Just Do it – Nike

This is one of the most famous slogans of all time, and there’s a reason for that.

This slogan works well to inspire us. How? The slogan is so short that it’s straight to the point and works well to create a sense of urgency to get out there and do something. It is successful because when Nike state ‘Just Do It’ ‘it’ is not defined and it allows athletes to define their ‘it’ as anything they want. The word ‘just’ is effective as well as it makes it sound like it’s easy, further encouraging people to do the thing they want to do.

When we evaluate we don’t focus on what the words show, we focus on why the words are effective. In this case we’ve linked our answer to the assumed audience – athletes, and evaluated why we think these words work well.
